If you are following the Design Divas blog hop, you should have just arrived here from the blog of my creative friend Cindy's blog Cindy's Antics. This card was made for a new friend at work who was just recently diagnosed with colon cancer. I miss her at work and wish her well. Since I was making her a card, I chose it to post for my Oldies But Goodies (OBG) blog hop project. The theme is to use something you have had in your stash but have not used for at least 6 months. The oldie is my Just Because I Care stamp, which is from a retired Stampin' Up! set. The flower is from the Simply Soft set by Stampin' Up! which I also have not used in at least 6 months. The new is the hearts embossing folder which is new from Stampin' Up and is part of the Adoring Accents set of embossing folders. Even though I have the Simply Soft clear stamp set I still used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get the inside of the flowers lined up just right. Thank you for stopping by my blog I hope you enjoy the hop. Successful Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration Open House

Spent the afternoon with 8 lovely ladies at my open house today. The ladies made the cards I posted in my post yesterday. It was a chilly day here in Florida, if you can believe it, which was good since I planned to serve tea with finger sandwiches and cupcakes. My theme was Afternoon Tea since my projects featured the Tea Shoppe stamp set from the occasions mini catalog. My daughter was very helpful and used her mini cupcake maker to make the cupcakes for me. I wish I had remembered to take pictures of the food and my guests. I had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of two lovely ladies who are new customers. It is always fun to meet new people. My regular customers made the new-comers feel very welcome and I appreciate that. Stampers are such nice people. Here are a couple of pictures of my other projects for the day. I made the Rosettes for door prizes and the little diaper fold pouches were little party favors for my guests.

My Digital Studio Express Trial -- Digital Download by Stampin’ Up!

Stampin' up is offering a FREE TRIAL of their My Digital Studio software. This is an awesome opportunity to try it out. It is great for digital photo projects like scrapbooks, photo calendars, cards etc. I use it to create "hybrid" cards where I use the digital content to augment my rubber stamp inventory to assist in making my cards. The card below is a sample of a hybrid card. The sentiment (Go In The Direction of Your Dreams) came from My Digital Studio. I used the tools within the program to change the colors of the digital stamp and printed it out on white card stock. I adhered it to a card I made out of black card stock (finished size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card). I then added the other elements to finish the card. No rubber stamping.

I've been on a quest to create more cards using the Clean and Simple style. Clean and Simple (CAS) card designs are quick to put together and easy to mass produce if you want to make a set. They are economical because you are using your Designer Series paper and embellishments sparingly so your supplies will go farther. Also, since they are not loaded down with layers of card stock and embellishments, they are lighter in weight and will not require extra postage. A card like my sample is easy to recreate with any supplies you already have. Make base from card stock 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches and round corners. Stamp sentiment on white card stock, round corners and apply to card base. Punch scallop circle from Designer Series paper and apply to white panel. Stamp image on white card stock punch with scallop circle and edge with marker or ink. Adhere to card using Stampin' Dimensionals .

I had lots of fun making these little goodie bags for my coworkers at the department store. I made 35 of these 1x8 bags and stuffed some with jelly beans, some with a peppermint stick and some with mini snow cap candies (not pictured). The toppers were made with the Tags Til Christmas and Stitched Stockings stamp sets and various punches including the stocking builder punch. Three Christmas Medallions

I am catching up on my posting for my Christmas projects. My job at the department store this month has really cut into my crafting and blog posting time. I have a day off today and I'm catching up on my blog posting. These projects were the last ones I did for my Christmas projects.
I made the Christmas Medallions to attach to gifts instead of bows. These are made featuring the Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Stitched Stockings stamp set and stocking punch from the Holiday Mini, which is only available until January 1.

Come To Bethlehem Champagne Glitter Card

I just love looking through blogs of other Stampin' Up! demos. It is a great way to get inspiration for my cards so I will admit that the use of the Champagne Glitter as the "sand" for the Come To Bethlehem image is not my idea. I saw a beautiful card using both those things on Lisa Foster's blog and was inspired to create this card. The process of using someone else's idea as a jumping off point for your project is called CASEing with CASE being an acronym for "Copy And Self-Express." To see Lisa's card, click here to go to her blog. You will see how I adapted my card to accommodate the supplies I had. It's okay if you like Lisa's card better.
This card was one I actually made back in October but I haven't had a chance to post it yet. I did do a variation of it for a Christmas Card Stamp-A-Stack, see my October 31 Post. I created 3 different versions of this card. So you can see the variation on the theme of my first card.

The first card from the left is done as a 1-layer card. I made a card out of Very Vanilla card stock and did my stamping and applied the glitter. This is something to consider if you will be making a lot of them and also if you will be mailing them as it is quick to make and will be light enough to not require extra postage. The card in the middle was done by making a card out of Early Espresso card sock, stamping the image on a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Very Vanilla and after stamping and applying glitter, I adhered it to the Early Espresso Base. The card on the right is the version seen above. This one is is made by making a card out of Early Espresso card stock, rolling the Musical Note wheel using Soft Suede Ink on the Crumb Cake card stock. I attached the ribbon doing and adhered the image panel to the base. I stamped the image and first Oh, come let us adore him on a piece of vanilla card stock and distressed it by sponging on some Soft Sweet ink. I added the Basic Rhinestone to the star and adhered that piece to a 1/8" bigger piece of Early Espresso and then attached it to the card.
I recently started working at a department store for the holidays and it has severely cut into my crafting time. While the extra money will be helpful, I do not like not having the time to play with my "toys." Since I have no new projects to post, I have neglected my blog for a while but I hope to post at least once a week.

Thank you for stopping by. This is my card for the DIVAS - Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop. The theme is to use at least 1 thing that you have but have not used for 6 months or more. You might have arrived here from the blog of my extremely creative friend Chrissy, Creating With Chrissy. Her blog was the first blog on the hop.
For my card, I used a number of things that I have not used in 6 months or more. They are the Season of Friendship set, Framed Tulips, and watercolor paper. The tree is stamped on the watercolor paper and then I inked up the leaf stamp with markers and spritzed the stamp with water before stamping on the paper. I was hoping to give the leaves a little watercolor appearance. For the embossed panel, I sponged vanilla card stock with Cajun Craze ink to as Cajun Craze is very dark and I wanted a little lighter version for my card. I then embossed it with the embossing folder and trimmed it to put on the Early Espresso base. The ribbon is white organdy ribbon that I had and I tinted it by sponging it also with the Cajun Craze ink. I added it to the image panel and adhered it to the card. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs and stamped on Very Vanilla and then punched with the Word Window punch and layered with the Modern Label punch I trimmed off the left edge of the punches and applied to the card and added a Basic Pearl to finish it off. Simple anniversary card made with the Musical Note wheel and the heart stamp from the Always set. The happy anniversary is from the Word for You set. Early Espresso ink was used on the heart and Soft Suede for the musical notes. I like the combination of pink with brown so I chose Pretty in Pink to use in contrast with the Early Espresso card stock. I stamped the heart twice. Once on Whisper White and the other on the Pretty in Pink. I cut the entire pink heart out and then cut the inside of the white heart and popped the white up on the pink with Dimensionables. Espresso ribbon and Basic Pearls were used as the finishing touches.

Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps

I'm not a baker and it has been a while since I did any holiday baking. The new Stampin' Up! Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps inspired me to try my hand at baking. I will stamp on anything that doesn't move so these were perfect. All you have to do is make up some of the Sugar Cookie or Shortbread dough recipes that is included with the stamps, roll into 1-1/2 inch balls and press with the cookie stamps (see photos below for more information) For my sampler above I also made a peanut butter cookie recipe and a cream cheese candy recipe (white snowflakes) I found on line and I also used the stamps to s tamp on fondant icing to cover some of the cookies (the turquoise ones on the back of the plate ). Not too bad for a novice at baking. Check out the Cookie Stamps on my website here . To combine your love for baking shop the rest of the site for other items to package your cookies like the Kraft box seen here to add your own tag or topper. Approximate size: 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 2-1/2". Contact me if you have any questions or to order directly from me.

Roll dough into 1-1/2 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar.

Cookie Stamp is treated with flour
so the dough doesn't stick to it.

Two Cards - One New Design featuring Stampin' Up! Faith in Nature Set

A little different take on the tent topper cards. The Sahara Sand base of this card is 2-3/4 x 5-1/2 inches and the image panel is a 2 inch Whisper White square with 1/8 inch border of Early Espresso. It is placed on the card and sticks up about 1 inch off of the card. I stamped the flower from Faith In Nature and with daubers, sponged on Regal Rose and Old Olive ink. The background paper is from the Letters From Santa collection. This particular sheet doesn't look Christmassy so it can be used for other things. I love being able to use items for more than one purpose. I inked just the "keep your faith" portion of the sentiment stamp from the set with a marker and stamped it on a scrap of Sahara Sand and punched it out with the Word Window punch. Then layered it with the Modern Label punch. The Basic Rhinestones were tinted with a Melon Mambo marker.

Here's another card using this design I made with different stamps from the same set. A piece of Old Olive was embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder and adhered to base. I stamped the pear image and sponged Old Olive ink and Crumb Cake ink on it. The Basic Rhinestones were Tinted with a Chocolate Chip Marker.

This is my project for the hop. It is a group of cards I made using the Lovely as a Tree stamp set by Stampin' Up! It is a set I have had for a very long time and I do dust it off from time to time. It is one of the oldest and most loved Stampin' Up! sets and it is still a current set available for purchase. The technique I used for the cards is also a very old technique called One Sheet Wonder. I stamped an entire 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of card stock randomly with all the stamps from the sets and sponged on some ink and then cut up the pieces to make the cards. You can basically cut the 8-1/2 x 11 inch stamped cardstock anyway you want and make as many cards as you can with the pieces. I got 7 out of the pieces I cut with a little waste.

Since I live in Florida, this is the closest I get to "fall" colors.

Two for One - Birthday Card and Matching Box

I made this birthday card for my sister-in-law and then made the matching box with the Fancy Favor Box die. I stamped the background on the Sahara Sand base with one of the stamps from the Simply Soft set in Sahara Sand ink. Then I stamped the flowers stamp on Very Vanilla in Early Espresso ink and filled them used the fill stamp to fill them in with Rich Razzleberry ink on the card and ink from a Rose Red marker on the box. I then embossed the Pretty in Pink card stock with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and then trimmed it down and cut the banner notch using the corner of a square punch. I embossed Very Vanilla and cut out the oval die from the Lots of Tags die set. I punched Stamped some of the flower stamps on Sahara Sand scraps and punched them out with the large oval punch for the inside of the tag. The flowers were punched out with the Boho Blossoms Punch on Bravo Burgundy card stock and scraps of the embossed Pretty in Pink card stock. I used the Scallop Trim border punch with Bravo Burgundy Card stock to line the Embossed Pretty in Pink strip. Stamping Dimensionals are used on the tag and behind the flowers. It is finished off by stamping "Fantastic"/"Your Fantastic" in Bravo Burgundy and then using glue dots to adhere a Crochet Trim bow.

About my card:
My oldies but goodies on this card are the stamps. I used a retired Stampin' Up! background (Weathered) stamp and 2 current stamp sets Inspired by Nature and A Word For You. All of which I have not used for at least 6 months.

The technique on this card is a variant of the emboss resist technique. See below for the steps for creating this card.

1. Stamped Crumb Cake card stock with Weathered background stamp with Soft Suede Classic ink.
2. Inked up Inspired by Nature flower stamp with Versamark and stamp over previously stamped Crumb Cake piece.
3. Sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heated.
4. Heavily sponged Soft Suede ink over entire Crumb Cake piece so that it was completely covered.
5. Used paper towel to wipe ink off of embossed image allowing image to show through dark ink.
6. Adhered triangles of Mocha Morning DSP to Soft Suede base card.
7. Adhered embossed panel on card.
8. Stamped Happy Anniversary on scrap of Crumb Cake card stock, cut notch and set brad and adhered to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

One Neat Way to use Stampin' Up! Bird Builder Punch

I made 8 of these little gate fold cards as customer thank yous. I adhered a little sample of our Basic Pearls on the inside flaps. To make the cards, you start with a piece of 3 x 6 card stock. From the long side score down the 3" length at 1-1/2" and 4-1/2" I used the new Stampin' Up! Simply Scored (see my side bar on the right) but you can use whatever method you have. I then decorated the outside flaps with the Brights Designer Series Papers (DSP). The scraps of the paper were punched out with the Bird Builder Punch and some scraps of white were punched with the scallop oval punch. I adhered the birds to the scallop oval and adhered the whole piece with a Stampin' Dimensional to the right flap only. A little pearl was added to the bird for the eyes and the wings are adhered to the bird with a Stampin' Dimensional also. I grabbed some ribbon I had handy and cut it to a length that I needed to make a bow after adhered it to the back of the card with a little strip of Snail adhesive and then wrapped it around the front and tied the bow. I should also note that the inside is also finished with a piece of DSP in the center panel with a scallop circle punch stamped with Thanks So Much. In addition to the 3 x 3 finished size, I made a couple a little shorter (2-1/2 x 3 finished size) because I had scraps of 2-1/2 x 6 inch card stock that I wanted to use up.

Three Medallions, Two Sheets of Designer Series Paper, and One Stamp Set

I made three different sized pleated medallions. I used 2 sheets of the Holly Berry Bouquet (Holiday Mini Catalog) Designer Series Paper (DSP) and one stamp set, the Welcome Christmas Stamp set (2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog). For the sparkle, I used Red Glimmer paper. Other elements include Little Leaves Sizzlets die, and punched leaves (Bird Builder Punch) and also Boho Blossoms punch. Gold Stampin' Emboss embossing powder was also used on all of the projects. The Whisper White card stock was embossed with the gold Stampin' Emboss and then distressed using the Tea Stain distres sink and the rubber stamp applicator. I also sprayed some water on it to give it a stippled effect.

Quick Start Directions for Medallion
6 inch medallion - Start with paper size 6 x 12. Add a 1 inch strip of contrasting paper (usually opposite side of double sided paper) and adhere to paper from 6 inch edge to 6 inch edge. Score at 1/2 inch intervals and then cut paper in half length wise so you have two 3 x 12 inch strips of scored paper. Pleat the paper and adhere ends together. It is important to fold one strip starting with an up fold and the second strop starting with a down fold so your ends can interlock. Glue ends together and and push into middle to make medallion.

For other sizes cut paper as follows:
4 inch medallion start with paper size 4 x 11.
3 inch medallion start with paper size 3 x 10.

One Card Two Ways - Winter Post Welcome Christmas Cards

Hi, welcome to my entry for the Design DIVAS blogging group's blog hop. Our theme for the blog hop is Oldies But Goodies. This means we design something that is made with at least one item we own but have not used in at least 6 months. You should have arrived here from seeing the gorgeous project on Heather's blog , which is also the first stop on the hop so if you didn't start on Heather's blog and want to start from the beginning click on the previous link to go to Heather's blog.

You can read below for the details on my cards and/or continue on the hop and go to my friend Barb's blog for a look at what wonderful creation she has come up with for the theme.

My items for the theme are my Stampin' Up! Winter Post and Heard From The Heart stamp sets. I made two cards with two different feels just changing the accent color and accessories. I used the same base colors of Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake but one card has the brigther Cherry Cobbler color and the other the rich but warmer Bravo Burgundy. I like the vintage look of the Winter Post stamp set so after I created the card with the Cherry Cobbler, I decided to go a little more vintage by using the Bravo Burgundy and then also adding some distressing using items from the Stressing Essentials kit. Coloring the image with different mediums also changes the feel. The Stampin' Write markers used on the Cherry Cobbler card are much bolder and gave more saturation of color but the Watercolor Crayons give a more softer feel for the desired look for the Bravo Burgundy card. The other difference is the background on the Crumb Cake panels. The embossed panel is bold and goes well with the bright cherry color but the stamped background is subtle and perfect for the burgundy card. So you can see that you can take 1 image and use it 2 different ways by changing up one color and embellishments.

Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper 5-Petal Flower Birthday Card

I made this card to go with the purse box note card gift set from my August 5, 2011 post. The card is made using Stampin' Up! Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, and Crumb Cake card stock and some scraps of Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper (DSP). This collection of paper is just so rich and luxurious. Two of the 6 designs in the pack are flocked. I can't wait to create something with those. Anyway, this card was inspired by a card on page 183 in the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog. I changed it up slightly but I wanted to keep the simple design and the warm colors. I embossed half of the Early Espresso card base and Very Vanilla card stock with the dotted embossing folder. I punched the embossed Vanilla with the 5-Petal Flower punch and then punched out the centers using a scrap of the DSP and the Boho Blossom punch. I added Basic Pearls to the center of the flowers and then I added Hemp Twine to the back of the flowers with some glue and then put on some Stampin' Dimensionals on the back and adhered them to the vanilla panel. Stamped the sentiment and added the DSP strips. I added a row of small Basic Pearls to the finish off the card.

Stampin' Up! Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper Purse Box and Note Cards

I have this great template for a purse box that I got from another stamper who posted it in the templates forum on Splitcoaststampers. Click here to see the post and get the template. For this purse, I used 1 sheet of 12 x 12 paper from the Mocha Morning Designer Series collection. With a 1" x 12" scrap of the paper, I made a pleated paper rosette and adhered it to the purse. I embellished the purse with punches from the Word Window punch and the small heart punch and then the Basic Pearls. As this purse is a birthday gift for a good friend of mine, I made six 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" note cards to put inside the purse. The note cards are made with a Crumb Cake base, Very Vanilla cards stock and Early Espresso card stock along with some Mocha Morning scraps left over from the purse. The 5-Petal Flower punch and Boho Blossom punch were also used to make the cards.

Four Flower Birthday Card

I am loving my Triple Layer Blossom Punch. I made this card using the inside flower and faux glitter brads. See picture tutorial below for how to make the faux brads. I used Concord Crush card stock as the base and Embossed the Whisper White card stock with an embossing folder and then punched the edges with the Eyelet Border Punch. Mine apparently needs to be sharpened as it did not give me a clean cut. I adhered that panel to the base. I then stamped the Happy Birthday stamp from the Swirls and Curls Verses (2011 Summer Mini hostess set) in Concord Crush ink on the white card stock. I colored the balloons with markers. I adhered the sentiment panel to it to a Concord Crush panel and then adhered that to the embossed white I punched out the flowers out of the In Color Designer Series Paper in Pear Pizazzz, Blushing Bride, Concord Crush, and Peach Parfait and placed them on the card and finished them off with the faux glitter brads.

Faux Glitter Brad Tutorial:
Supplies: Card Stock (CS) or Designer Series Paper (DSP) Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, circle punch from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. (Click on each picture to enlarge and then use your browser's back button to return to here).

Punch out circles from Card stock or DSP.
I use 3 circles per faux brad. I'm making
4 brads so I punched ouit 12 circles.

Glue 3 circles together for each brad.

Apply Crystal Effects to cover each stack of circle.
Start on the edge of the circle and in a circular motion
apply until entire circle is covered.

The Crystal Effects is very thick and will not spread over the sides unless
you squeeze too hard and apply too much. It will also harden when it dries.

While Crystial effects is still wet,
lightly sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
Let dry an hour or more.

July Workshop Projects

Had a wonderful time with my customers and friends at my July workshop. The workshop theme was friendship and I made the first card with the Bird-Builder Punch, the Boho Blossom Punch, and the Language of Love stamp set. This card features nearly all the stamps in the set and both coordinating punches. We first stamped the sentiment on the Early Espresso panel and then stamped the flowers on some scrap Early Espresso card stock and then embossed those with white embossing powder. Then the larger panel of Early Espresso was stamped with the flower stamp in white ink. for the background. The Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper was used for the squares. The bird is inked with Black StazOn ink and the branch was "inked" with an Old Olive Stampin' Write marker and then stamped on Whisper White card stock. We colored the bird by using the daubers to sponge on the Riding Hood Red ink. We then punched it out with the Bird Builder punch. The bird and branches are mounted on a Whisper White scallop circle and adhered to the card on top of the Santa's Workshop paper and Whisper White with rounded corners. Stampin Dimensionals were used on the scallop circle to pop it up a little and they were also used on the embossed flowers around the sentiment.

The Second card we did was Hippy Hoppy, Happy Hello from the Turtle and Co. set. This set is is an exclusive stamp set designed to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMDHC). Stampin' Up! will donate $3 to RMDHC for each Turtle & Co. stamp set sold. This is a simple card made featuring the frog image colored with Stampin' Write markers. The paper used was Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper and the card stock is Poppy Parade and Whisper White. The Basic Pearls were tinted using the Certainly Celery Stampin' Write Marker. Also used on this card was the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and the Scallop Trim Punch.

The last project was a book mark. This was made with Basic Black and Very Vanilla card stock and the First Edition Specialty paper. The stamp set was the Posy Punch hostess set. The stamp was inked with Riding Hood Red ink and stamped on Very Vanilla card stock. Then we cleaned the stamp and inked the center again with More Mustard stamped it on Very Vanilla and trimmed it out. We popped it up on the flower with Stampin' Dimensionals. We also did some second-generation stamping of the flower on the First Edition paper, rounded the corners and then adhered that to the Basic Black card stock. Then the flower was adhered to the top of the book mark.

Very Vanilla Newsprint Thank You

This is a pair of thank you cards I made using Basic black and Very Vanilla card stock and the Newsprint Designer Series Paper (DSP) as the background. These cards are 4-1/4" square cards. I like square cards but you have to add extra postage for mailing and have square envelopes on hand for them but if you do a 4-1/4 inch card, they fit in the standard invitation envelope (4-3/8 x 5-3/4) that we use for our standard 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" cards. This way you won't have buy special envelopes and extra postage if you are mailing it. The background on the smaller vanilla square is embossed using the Square Lattice embossing folder and adhered to a smaller Basic Black square. I then die cut the black tag using a die from the Sizzlits Lots of Tags set (set of 4) and stamped the Thank You from the Just Believe stamp set and punched it out with the Modern Label Punch. I added the Basic Pearls for the finishing touch. Quick and easy card. After I did the card on the left, I decided to change it up a little for the 2nd card and rounded the corners on DSP and the embossed square. I thought rounding the corners of those pieces complimented the rounded edges on the tags and added a little more interest in the card.

Inspired By Nature Olive Thank You

This is a pair of thank you cards I made using the Inspired by Nature Set. The set is a large double mounted set. It has the grass on one side and the flowers on the other. I am using it here to illustrate the versatility of a large stamps. Even though you have a large stamp, you do not always have to use the entire stamp on your project. I isolated the smaller flower on the stamp by coloring it with Stampin' Write markers (see below). I created the illusion of depth by stamping twice without reinking the stamp thus giving some of the images a lighter look. Also, on these cards are the "thank you" form the Just Believe set, buttons are die cuts from the Buttons #5 Sizzlits die and a label from the Lots of Labels Sizzlits set, and Square Lattice embossing folder. The buttons and the "faux" brad on the label are covered with Crystal Effects to give them a shiny finish.

Use markers to isolate part of a larger stamp.
For this card I used the flower on the far right of the stamp.

Notably Ornate Small Tall Card

This card was inspired by three challenges over at SplitcoastStampers.com (SCS). The Clean and Simple Challenge was to make a tall and thin card, the technique challenge was to do an "old world look" and the sketch challenge (see below) was to make a card using this sketch. So my card is what is called a "small tall card". it is 3-1/2 x 6-1/4. I aged it with using some sponging of the Early Espresso ink. I used Naturals White and Early Espresso card stock and the bird was cut out and applied with dimension dots. It is hard to see in the picture but I used a little of the white glue and Dazzling Diamonds glitter The image is colored with Stampin' Write Markers and I added dots with the white gel pen. When I have a bird image like this, I like to stamp it off a couple of times giving it the effect of motion.

Pleated Medallion Tutorial

I love making these pleated medallions. I was inspired to start making them a few years ago when I saw them on some of my other blogging friends' blogs. There are a lot of possibilities for them. I have made them as ornaments for my Christmas tree, decorating gifts, or as as gifts themselves. See the links following the tutorial for my other medallion ideas. You could even string a few of them together to make a banner. They are just like potato chips. Once you start making them you can't stop.

The only special tool you might need is a glue gun. If you have a really fast-drying strong adhesive you could try that too but I found a glue gun works best.

Step 1: Start with a 12 x 6 inch sheet of patterned paper and a 12 x 1 inch strip of coordinating paper.

Step 2: Adhere the coordinating 1 inch strip of paper to 6 inch wide paper.

Step 3: Score your paper and strip at 1/4 inch intervals. I used a scoring pad or you can use your scoring blade with your cutter or a ruler and a bone folder.

Step 4: Cut the paper down the center length wise

Step 5: Fold your score lines. It is important to note which way you start to fold the first one and then fold the second the opposite way. If you start with a down fold on the first one, when you fold the second strip, you will want to start with an up fold. This is so that the ends will fit together easily. See figure 3. The strip on the left will easily lock onto the one on the right.

Step 6: Using a hot glue gun or strong quick-drying adhesive (I use a hot glue gun) glue your ends together. You will then have a piece that looks like this. Your coordinating strip should be on the bottom.

Step 7: Pinch the edges together and push down.

Step 8: Holding the medallion together place glue the center and you may have to hold for a minute until it sets.

Your medallion is now ready to decorate. Have fun and use your creativity.

This card features The Open Seas set and some strips from the Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper (DSP). These are both sets available in the Summer Mini Catalog and available through August 31. I chose to get the My Digital Studio (MDS) version of the stamps and paper. There are pros and cons to using digital images. One is that I can have the set but not have to pay full price for the rubber version, especially if it is not something I think I will use a lot. The con is that you really have to like working on your computer. After working 4-6 hours on my computer, I don't necessarily want to use it as my creative outlet. That's why I like stamping, because it gets me off of my computer. Now playing Lexulous (a game like Scrabble) on Facebook is another issue. I'm addicted to that game and it does involve the computer but only for the few minutes it takes for me to play my word. Anyway, back to this card. The only thing that is stamped is the "Thinking of You." The rest including the background on the Crumb Cake panel is digital. After I printed and trimmed out the ship image, I added a little color to the water with my Baja Breeze marker, I added the Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine and brad. I printed the DSP and cut it into strops and then used my scissors to cut the "v" notch into the end and then arranged them on the Crumb Cake panel.

Welcome to my entry for the Facebook DIVAs Oldies But Goodies (OBG) blog hop. You should have arrived here from my friend Cindy's (Cindy's Antics) blog. Don't you just love her creativity. The general idea behind the theme is to create something using item(s) that you have had but have not used in 6 months or more. So, this is a pleated medallion that I made using some Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper (DSP) and stamp set that I haven't used in awhile. I love making these medallions and it has been at least 6 months since I made some. The DSP is from the Woodland Walk collection, which is about to be retired as SU's new catalog comes out July 1. Fortunately, the stamp set Just Believe will still be available in the new catalog. It is a very pretty set.

Clean and simple design featuring sentiment from Word Play set and Triple Layer Flower Punch from the Summer Mini Catalog. The paper is Blueberry Crisp. I added a cap from a long-retired SU set but it comes in handy for these occasions. Rhinestone stickers also used for that little added touch. The layout is inspired from this week's Splitcoast Stampers website Sketch Challenge (SC336).

Heat Embossed with Melon Mambo - Three Little Words

Three new colored embossing powder are featured in the Summer Mini catalog. I used Melon Mambo on this card. I embossed the Flourish image from the Elements of Style set and the Three Little Words set with Versamark and the Melon Mambo embossing powder on Glossy White card stock. I then adhered it to a Melon Mambo base. The finished size is 5.5 x 4 inches. It was quick and simple and I like the glossy card stock combined with the gloss of the embossing. Just Because Double Emboss Card (DIVA FB Group OBG Blog Hop)

Welcome to the Facebook DIVAs blogging group's Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop. The theme of the hop is Oldies But Goodies (OBG). The rules are to create an item (card, scrapbook page, framed art, etc.) using at least 1 item in your supplies that you not used for 6 months or more. This is the first blog on the hop. The list for all the participants is to the right of this post in the side bar.

My card for this blog hop is a CASE of one from the Stampin Success magazine and features the Double Emboss ttechnique. The oldie but goodie items on this card is black embossing powder, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, and Antique Brad. The bottom panel on the card is a piece of Stampin Up Designer Series Paper (DSP) called Night and Day that I got off the clearance rack. This piece was embossed using the double emboss technique. See directions below. I also used the bird image and the just because sentiment from the Notably Ornate set. The bird is stamped using the "stamping off" technique on another pattern from Night and Day DSP. I stamped it with black ink. I tucked the ribbon around the DSP panel and added the brad. Adhered that to the Cherry Cobbler panel and then addered it all to the Crumb Cake base (Finished Size 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inches).

Double Emboss Instructions.
1. Ink a brayer with Versamark.
2. Roll the brayer on the inside of your embossing folder (bold design works best) on the indented/recessed side.
3. Place your paper or cardstock inside embossing folder and run through your diecut machine.
4. Sprinkle embossing powder (color of your choice to coordiante with project) and heat as usual.
5. Place double embossed piece on your project.

Birthday Circles Card - (You Had Me At Craft - Made it Myself Monday)

This card is for my son Steven for his 13th birthday. It is made also for You Had Me at Craft blog's Made it Myself Monday blog linking party. The card is made with Stampin Up Basic Black, Whisper White, Dafodil Delight, Marina Mist, and Cherry Cobbler card stock. The Happy Birthday is from the Afterthoughts Hostess set. I cut the card out of black card stock (finished size 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inches). I then punched out the circles and adhered them randomly on the white card stock, which was gut 1/8 inch smaller than the black base. Stamped the Happy Birthday. and used a die to cut out the numbers and word son and placed them on the card. Then I adhered the white panel to the base. Very clean, simple and fun. I hope you give it a try. If you don't have a die cutter or circle dies, use any household item like cups to make circle patterns and cut them out.

As a thank you gift to a new customer, I put together a sample packet of the new Petal Paisley paper and stamped off each of the images in the Four Frames Set. These are new items that will be in the Stampin Up 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog coming out in July. The Four Frames set goes with the Decorative Label punch. Also used on this are the 2-step bird punch and the Top Note die.

Sweet As Pie Grammy

This card features the apple image from the Tart and Tangy stamp set. It is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White card stock using Real Red Classic ink and the stem was inked with the Garden Green marker. I punched it out with the 1-1/4" circle and applied it to a scallop circle punch in Real Red. I made the base of the card out of Real Red (finished size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches). I created the word Grammy using my computer and printed it out on a sheet of Whisper White. I applied the ribbon to the white panel and then adhered the panel to the card base. I added the scallop strip to the back of the Night and Day Designer Series Paper (DSP) and applied to white card stock. Lastly, I applied the image panel with dimension dots.

DIVAS Blogging Group OBG Blog Hop - Bright Flowers Easter Cards

Welcome to the blog hop for the Facebook DIVAS blog hop. If you are on the hop, then you arrived here from Brend'a Blog "Stamp it Up". The theme of the hop is Oldies But Goodies and we are to use items in our stash that we have not used for 6 months or more. I chose these brightly colored paper flowers. They were from the first batch of I bought years ago when I started seeing them being used on cards in the blogosphere. I chose them because they go nicely with the SU Brights color family. The Designer Series paper by SU is used as well as some Concord Crush from the In Color family. The Sentiment is from last year's Well Scripted set. In the first card I did the "pressed flowers" technique by gluing the flowers onto the card stock before placing it in the Square Lattice embossing folder. I trimmed it and placed it on the card and then embellished it with some organdy ribbon and pink satin ribbon that I heated with my heat gun to get them to curl. It is finished off with a thrift store find of some pearl beading. For the 2nd card, I ran the flowers through the embossing folder and then applied them to a piece of embossed card stock. I trimmed it placed it on the card and embellished it with a paper flower I made with punching out paper from the Designer series paper.

Clean and Simple Easter Card

I'm still working on improving my clean and simple technique and made this hybrid Easter card using elements from Stampin Up's My Digital Studio (MDS). The Designer Series Paper and the bunny image are both from MDS. I printed the bunny and the paper on card stock and trimmed them for use on my Soft Suede card stock base. The Happy Easter is from a retired SU set. I added a link pink to the bunny with a marker. With my daughter graduating high school this year, I am making a collection of graduation cards for her friends who are graduating with her. This past weekend, I made this collection of clean and simple graduation cards featuring current and retured SU products. See individual cards for the supplies on each card. For the Congrats card and the Stand Out of the Crowd Card I used a reverse mask to draw on the border. The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig was used for the Stand Out Of The Crowd Card. On this card I also did the paper piecing technique by stamping the cap on a scrap of Greenhouse Gala DSP and cutting it out.

Purse Boxes and SU GRAB BAG/CLEARANCE RACK PROMOTION

Two darling purse boxes. I made these for 2 friends of mine who were helpful during my stamp class last Saturday. I needed extra help with instructing and helping my campers and the jumped right in to help. I filled the boxes with some Dove dark chocolates.

The purse on the left is made with SU Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper (DSP). This is a sneak preview of SU's new Paisley Petals DSP coming out this summer. Keep your eyes open here for ways you can preorder it. I used the Decorative Label punch for the accents on this purse and embossed a scrap of Not Quite Navy with the Square Lattice embossing folder. The sliver purse is made with SU Brushed silver card stock. I die cut out the flowers and fancy tag behind the flower. I made the matching note card using the Fresh-Cut Notes set of pre-cut cards that have the flower in the middle already die cut. Here's a sample of the silver purse with matching card.

FB DIVAS (OBG) BLOG HOP - Sports Emboss Resist Birthday Card

This month's DIVAS Facebook Group oldies but goodies blog hop. So you should have arrived here here from Linda's blog The Stamper's Touch

The challenge for this hop is to make a card from something we have had in our stash for at least 6 months and have not used for a while. I used this sports set by SU. It is a retired set that was one of my first sets I got from them at least 5 years ago. I brought it out to make a birthday card for my son's friend and decided to use it for the challenge. I chose to do the emboss resist techniques with the images. The patterned paper is current SU paper that I ran through another tool that has not seen the light of day in a while and that is my crimper. Remember when that was one of the only ways to add texture to paper before all the fun embossing folders became prevalent? This is a quick and easy card that I also will be sharing at my SU Stamp Camp this month. Even though it is a retired set, I needed something masculine. Practicing my Clean and Simple (CAS) technique by participating in this week's Splitcoaststampers.com weekly CAS challenge. This week's challenge CAS111 is a sketch. I chose Loads of Love set. This was inspired by a card from the March 2011 issue of Stampin Success magazine. I used the same stamp set and the same colors but used the CAS sketch.

Artistic Etchings FYI Birthday

Made this card as a prototype for a my upcoming Stamp Camp. This one features the Artistic Etchings and FYI stamp sets. I used the masking technique to make the medallion look like it is behind the towers. I stamped the Eiffel Tower stamp with black ink in the lower left corner and then stamped off twice more staggering them slightly. On scrap paper, I stamped the tower 3 more times and cut those out to make masks to place over my image panel and them inked the medallion stamp with Real Red ink and stamped over the towers. The crown was stamped also with black ink and trimmed closely to add as an embellishment. The design of the card was inspired by Splitcoaststampers.com sketch challenge this week. The scallop strip added to the bottom of the image panel is not so much a design element as a way to cover up a boo-boo. There are no mistakes in crafting just creative opportunities.

Beaded Circle Shape Card for SCS Challenges

With the help of My Digital Studio, I created the sentiment in the center from the Sunny Day set. I used some die cuts for the shape and the flowers. The card was created for a couple of challenges over at Splitcoaststampers.com. The technique challenge this week was to create an odd-shaped card and the color challenge was SU colors Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush, and Bashful Blue. A white gel pen was the dessert item to use so naturally I had to use that as this shape called for it. Basic Jewel Rhinestones finish this off as the center of the flowers.

I don't often get time to participate in challenges but SCS sketch challenge is one that I do like to make time for. The sketch this week looked interesting to me as was this week's SCS Newsletter technique by Beate Johns so I stayed up to the wee hours to make this card. The picture does not show the embossing very well on the image panel but it is done with the double emboss technique. Click HERE to see the tutorial by Beate. The Elements of Style set seems to be my new go-to set. I just love the flower stamp and have actually used it quite a bit. I stamped it and colored with markers and then added some bling with a glitter marker. The sentiment is from last year's mini catalog from the Well Scripted set.

Sympathy Silhouette - Feb. Stamp Camp Card #1

This is one of the cards we are doing today at the Spring Fling Stamp Camp that I am hosting. The size of this is is 6 x 3-1/2 inches. The image is by Stampin' Up! and is from the Just Believe set. I used a mask to sponge sponge the Center with Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive inks and then a little Chocolate Chip to distress it a little. Then I stamped the image with Chocolate Chip. Go In The Directions of Your Dreams - MDS Studio Hybrid Card

This card is a sneak peak at what we will be making at my Spring Fling Stamp Camp on Sunday. It is the "bonus" graduation card. We are making 2 each of four other designs and I promised 1 bonus card. I call this oen a hybrid because it uses the sentiment from My Digital Studio mixed with traditional card making items. I changed the color of the image, sized and positioned 4 copies of it on the sheet so I could cut it into quarters to make 4 cards. The sentiment panel was trimmed to 4" x 5-1/4" and placed on the bottom of a Basic Black card base. A 2" x 5-1/4" piece of Pacific Point was placed at the top. I punched the stars out of a sheet of Blueberry Crisp DSP. The stars are mounted on squares Basic Black trimmed to 1-1/2" squares, 1-3/8" SU punched used to cut plain Whisper White square, and white card stock was embossed and then punched with 1-1/4" SU square punch. The embossed square is placed up on a Dimension Dot as well as the stars. Black dot sheer ribbon and rhinestone stickers finish off the card.

I stamped the 'just a note,' pen and the ink well stamps with VersaMark and then heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. I then sponged on distress ink and stamped some other stamps from the set randomly. I also embossed the edges of the torn paper by dipping it in the Versamark pad and then sprinkling on the embossing powder. I thought it looked better than having the plain white edge or sponging it with the distress ink. While the stamp set is no longer available from SU, I hope by my using it for this challenge shows how versatile and timeless the stamps are. I would also have to say that I have not done gold embossing in a while as well and I have not used the Twill Tape since I originally purchased it. One Sheet Wonder Thank You Cards

Set of thank you cards using the One Sheet Wonder Technique. I took one sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 Whisper White and randomly stamped the bird stamp from the Always set with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I sponged on color (Peach Parfait) then stamped over tthat with the other stamps from the same set with Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz inks. I trimmed them out a variety of ways to make the card set and used a variety of embellishments and tools. Filled With Love Valentine Card

Card made for Fellow DIVAS member Sketch Challenge over at Paper Craft Planet. I used the Love Stamp from the Filled with Love set, and stamped on white paper after inking it with markers. The background is embossed using the SU Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder for the Big Shot. I used a technique on the background called Heat Embossing on Dry Embossing by using my brayer to apply VersaMark ink to the raised areas of the embossing and then applying SU's Iridescent Ice embossing powder to give it some shine and sparkle.

Elements of Style in So Saffron Sympathy

Making sympathy cards is never a pleasurable occasion when you need one so that is why I do them in batches when I don't need one. I made up a couple of sets at the request of the staff at my husband's office so they will have some ready to send out when they need to. I always make a couple for us too to have on hand. This one is made using this flower image from the very versatile set Elements of Style set. Simply stamped on Whisper White card stock with Black StazOn and colored with markers. So Saffron card stock is used for the accent color. I used the SU Modern Label and oval punches for the sentiment (not SU) and added little pearl stickers from the Basic Pearls.

Pack a big punch with a clean and simple design. The old saying goes that if you want people to listen to you...Whisper. Well the new wave of clean and simple cards does just that. There is a whole gallery dedicated to clean and simple cards at Splitcoaststampers.com and you can see some really great artistry there where less is more. It is a big challenge for me to be reserved and not go overboard with layers and embellishments so every once in a while I like to meet that challenge and make something simple. I did that with this birthday card by using 1 stamp set (Birthday Bakery - Hostess Set). I stamped the image and then colored it with markers, added a little glitter glue to the image and then stamped the sentiment. I took 1/4" off the front flap of the card and then punched it with a scallop border punch and added a ribbon and bow to the opposite side.

The challenge for this event was to make a card, 3D project or scrapbook page using products that we have had for 6 months or more. For my project, I chose the Stampin' Up! stamp set Peace Within and SU's Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper. Peace Within was the set I ordered in my SU start-up kit that I got last summer when I signed on to be an SU demo so it is older than 6 months old as is the designer series paper I used. The flowers and the green bead stickers have been in my stash for a while.

Dog Themed Birthday Card

This card is made with a little help from Man's Best Friend and My Digital Studio (MDS). The "stamp" set Man's Best Friend is included with the MDS software from Stampin Up (See my January 10 post for more info on MDS). I was able to reduce the size of the dog images to make the little border and add the big dog with the fire hydrant and the sentiment. I then trimmed them out with my paper trimmer and put the card together using Love Letter Designer Series Paper (DSP) and scallop border punch. Such a fun card and my friend who is also my dog's groomer is the recipient of this card.

My Digital Studio and Digital Downloads

I have been having such a blast working with My Digital Studio from Stampin' Up! While I do not prefer to generate my entire project digitally, I use the digital images and sentiments available through the program to augment my already expansive stamp and paper inventory.

There are advantages and disadvantages to using digital images but they are nice to have when I need and easy to store. One of the advantag is that you can resize the image to suit your project. You can't do that with a stamp. Within the program you can change the color of the images to match your Stampin Up card stock and paper and print out the elements to use on your cards such as I did here on this cupcake card.

The cup cake was generated within the program and printed out. I then trimmed and used it like it was any other stamped image by layering it with card stock and an embossed background, and adding embellishments

You can order the My Digital Studio software from Stampin' Up which comes with many stamp sets, background papers, and embellishments to start with. Then when you are ready, you can purchase other downloads separately to add to your digital collection.

And I'll share a secret with you, you can also purchase the individual downloadble sets/papers, etc separately and use them in your own desk top publishing or similar program that you already have. So if you are an experienced with creating with digital images already, you will enjoy purchasing the very affordable digital downloads from Stampin' Up. Birthday Cards with Images from My Digital Studio

I needed a couple of quick birthday cards and I made these 2 by using a couple of images from My Digital Studio. I chose the colors and sizes and printed them out to use on the cards. I chose simple designs and bright colors because these were for my daughter's boyfriend. She asked me to maker her a card to give him so I made her the cupcake one and then I made him the one with the gift. Santa image from the Jolly Old Saint Nick set (Holiday Mini Catalog) Bravo Burgundy and Garden Green Card stock were also used for the small and large scallop circles. The pleated medallion was made using scrap of miscellaneous paper. The white portions were colored in with Moonlight Smooch and then topped with the Smooch Illuminate Top Coat.

Pacific Point Designer Series Paper against the white is so pretty and really pops. The background for the bird was done using the striped wipe technique. I used a baby wipe and folded it into a small square and then applied ink from 3 different reinkers and then wiped it onto a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of glossy card stock. I then stamped the bird in Pacific Point Classic ink and then trimmed it down to size. I also was trying out the Scallop border punch with the corner punch. It was a little tricky and it took a few tries to find the right size of card stock and how to position the punch.

Here's one of the cards I'm planning on making for my November Stamp-a-Stack in which we will make Clean and Simple Handmade Christmas Cards. Simple layering, minimal embellishments but hopefully lots of festive style. I'm going to be using up some retired card stock colors such as Mellow Moss and Handsome hunter. I also am using the Christmas sentiment from the retired sentiment stamp set Best Yet. To make this card, position ribbon on light green layer and then adhere to your white base (finished size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2). Place your circle punch on the front of the card and punch through both layers (my punch will go through 2 layers but not 3 layers of card stock so the scallop circle frame was punched separately). With a pencil lightly trace circle on the inside of the card to help with placement of the Santa stamp. Color Santa. For the scallop frame: On a dark green scrap of card stock punch a circle with your circle punch and then take your scallop circle and punch over the remaining hole on the scrap. Take frame you created and place over peak-a-boo hole on your card . Stamp sentiment and punch out and layer over oval and adhere to card over ribbon. Take small strip of ribbon and tie a knot.

Two of the samples of the cards I made for my October Stamp-A-Stack. The cards were supposed to all be masculine. I chose that because masculine cards are usually very hard for me to make because my thoughts usually are of much more pastel or brighter colors and usually something floral, lots of scallops, flowers etc. So after coming up for the designs for this months SAS, I feel more confident that male cards won't be much of a problem in the future. Simple Christmas card inspired by the CAS (Clean and Simple) challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com. Check out the gallery for the CAS89 challenge cards. The design is one layer and features stamps from Stampin' Up!. They are from the Loads of Love set and the Loads of Love Accessories set. The tree was stamped with Old Olive Classic ink and the gifts were stamped with black StazOn and colored with the watercolor pencils. The Merry Christmas was stamped with Real Red Classic Stampin ink. I stamped the images first and then used my ruler and my red watercolor pencil to draw the lines. Glitter glue was used on the packages and the tree.

Lovely as A Tree Masculine Card - October SAS

Manly card....For my October SAS. We are making masculine-themed cards. I distressed the SU Newsprint Designer Series Paper with the inks from the Distress Kit. After wetting the Newsprint paper, I crumpled it up and then smoothed it out after it dried a little I stamped the leaves stamps from the Lovely As a Tree (LAT) set and then rubbed the distress ink spots over the top. The tree and the little leaves from the LAT set were embossed using VersaMark ink and gold embossing powder. I distressed the tree panel also with the by applying Tea Stain ink spot directly to the card stock. The gold embossed leaves were trimmed closely and then glued to the black scallop oval for embellishment.

Silhouette Sentiments Thank You Card

Thank you card made with Silhouette Sentiment hostess set. I had fun stamping all the blooms from the 3 different stamps in the set. I used the in color colors Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Poppy Parade and Concord Crush. This is pretty much a card that was inspired by another SU demonstrator's card that I saw in the SU demonstrator showcase so I cannot take credit for the entire design. Embossing with a non-SU embossing folder was done across the top. I made this just slightly smaller than the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card size because my paper trimmer was being a pain and I could not get a straight cut on the Blushing Bride base that I wanted to use so I had to trim it down to get it straight, which I did on another paper trimmer and will be pitching the other one but I think the size worked for a cute thank you card. I made a set of 4 of these to go to some people who came to my Stamp-A-Stack I had on Saturday to thank them for their support and their orders.

Anniversary Stair Step Card

Used the stair-step style to make this anniversary card for my husband. It makes a nice presentation. I chose the Filled With Love. It is in the Holiday Mini Catalog as a Valentine's Day set but it definitely has multiple other possibilities, i.e. Anniversary, Wedding, etc. I used the SU InColor colors of Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz. Lovely As a Tree Monochromatic Christmas Card

An old tried and true stamp set at SU is the Lovely as a Tree set. This majestic pine tree image is perfect for Christmas cards. I stamped this one on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I cut out with the Top Note Die and then trimmed it down a little so it would fit on top of the Garden Green piece also cut out with the Top Note Die. The white piece is also embossed with the Big Shot Textures folder called Northern Flakes. The sentiment is inside the Scallop Oval punch and layered with the Decorative Tag punch. All Christmas cards should have some bling so I added the SU Jewel Basic rhinestone s tickers to the snow flakes and the tag. I also used a glue pen on the tree and then sprinkled on some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. All items are available in the SU catalog. The sentiment is from the Jolly Old Saint Nick set that is in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Some Digital Fun with Forest Friends and Circle Circus

This card was made with the Forest Friends digital download. In my publishing program, I arranged the tree and the deer on the page and selected the colors for the images. After I printed it out, I used markers to add a little contrasting color to the leaves and draw in some grass. I sponged SU blue distressing ink around the images and then the tea distressing ink around the edges. Distressed the edges with the tools in the SU Distressing Essentials kit. I then scored lines on a scrap piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and inked it with the Tea distressing inks from the kit, trimmed it out and placed it on the Choclolate Chip scrap punched with the Eyelet Border Punch (SU). I also stamped the Thanks stamp from the Riveting set (SU-retired) on the craft scrap and punched it out with a 1-1/4" circle punch. I had a little flower punch and I used it to punch out a flower out of Old Olive cardstock and adhered it to the center of the circle and then applied Crystal Effects over that. A scrap of Chocolate Chip was punched with a small scallop circle punch and layered with the stamped circle. The base of the card is River Rock.

This was made with the Circle Circus digital set.: I'm going to demonstrate the circle card tonight for my friends at our weekly card club meeting. The design was pretty much a case of the sample provided with the set when I downloaded it I just embellished it a little with the silver beads and scallop border. Unfortunately the silver beads and scallop border punch are not from SU but I'm still accumulating my SU supplies and tools. I took the hello, friend image, put it in a graphics box and made the back ground a burgundy color and the sentiment white. I colored 4 circles and I after I printed them, I punched the circles with a 1" circle punch. I trimmed the "hello" panel down to fit on the front of a white cardstock base leaving a 1/8" border. Trimmed a strip of Daffodil Delight to fit under the "hello" panel and punched a Baja Breeze scrap with a scallop border punch and. Adhered everything tothe card base. Punched an extra circle and popped it up on its matching circle with a dimension dot and finished it off by adding silver beads.

My inaugural event an SU demonstrator is Sunday, August 29. I am hosting an open house to introduce all my friends to SU and cardmaking. Those in attendance will be both crafters and noncrafters. So I needed to design cards to appeal to different tastes in style. I went with Cute, Clean and Simple (CAS), and Vintage. I am also showing what can be done with stamps from coloring them in, to straight stamping, and a different kind of coloring technique such as popping pastels (stamping with Versamark Ink and applying some chalk to add the color).

Love You Much Peace Within

The design for this card came from the Splitcoaststampers.com sketch challenge SC293. It was perfect for this image from the Peace Within Set. Color choice was kind of random but really just sprang out of the colors of ink pads I pulled together to color the image. The image was stamped on white glossy cardstock with Black StazOn ink. I also stamped it again on scrap piece of cardstock to make a mask. I masked off the image and then sponged color from the Bashful Blue and Sierra Sand dye ink pads. I colored the flowers, leaves, pot, pillow, cat and butterfly using the dye ink pads as well and an applicator. I did all this by squeezing the closed ink pad together mashing the lid down onto the ink, open the pad and use the lid like a palette to apply by taking the ink from the lid with the applicator. Colors used to color the image were Melon Mamo, Pear Pizzazz, and Peach Parfait. The Sierra Sand cardstock was embossed with 2 different the embossing folders. On the larger embossed piece I just rubbed the Sierra Sand ink pad on the edges of the card stock to add depth. Love You Much from the Well Scripted SU Digital Download set was then stamped on the left corner of the image. Pearl stickers and ribbon were added (non-SU items) for embellishment.

Extreme Guitar (rubber stamp) and Extreme Elements (Digital Brush Stamp Set)

This is for my daughter whose birthday is coming up soon. She is obviously into the music scene and lately is loving the Beatles music after watching the DVD Across the Universe a musical featuring Beatles music. So that inspired the card's theme. This card features both rubber stamping technique on the Extreme Guitar stamp and SU Digital Download set Extreme Images. This set is also available in the catalog to go with the line of "Extreme" images. I used the In Colors Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush, and Blushing bride ink to ink up the image and then used my Serif PagePlus publishing program (free online) to color the digital images as close as I could to the SU colors. For the stamp itself I was inspired to ink it using a technique called Plaid Silhouettes from a Splitcoaststampers Technique Challenge. Basically, you just take your ink colors and working light to dark. Use your lightest color pad and touch the edge to your stamp on the diagnol going left to right, take the next color and go the opposite way, and then I touched up what wasn't inked with the darkest color. The stars are punched out with the SU star punch and the image and stars are adhered with Dimension Dots. The word Daughter was just typed in a text box in the publishing program and printed with teh background elements.
